BLUE TONGUE UPDATE AS AT 18.06.25
Added 28 November 2020
BLUETONGUE UPDATE 18.06.2025
The pre movement blood testing exemption has been further extended until 30th June, due to low probability of midges becoming infectious, this could be changed if conditions alter. Please remember you still need to apply (10 days in advance) for a specific movement licence (EXD632), through your Apha Portal if you want your animals to be available to non-abattoir buyers outside of the Bluetongue Zone. We are encouraging vendors to do this and can supply assistance. Please see details inside.
Animals from within the Bluetongue Restricted Zone which come in without a licence will still be able to remain within the Zone to live or move out directly to a slaughterhouse.
This change does not apply to calves and lambs under 60 days of age, breeding bulls or rams, or pregnant females which will all still need a blood test prior to moving out of the Zone to live, these tests now only last for 10 days.
From the 1st July the whole of England will be made into one zone and movement restrictions will no longer apply to moves within England.
Stock will not be allowed to move into Wales and Scotland without a blood test.
